Building Intelligent Machines with Deep Learning
By: Dr. Jonathan Mugan, Principal Scientist at 21CT
Deep learning represents a breakthrough in computational intelligence. Deep learning was introduced to the wider world in 2012 when it was used to shatter the previous record on image recognition. Since that achievement, nearly all state-of-the-art image recognition systems have used deep learning. While the initial success of deep learning was in computer vision, the technology is now beginning to be applied to broader areas such as natural language processing. This talk will provide an understandable introduction to the technologies that make up deep learning, and it will also cover the capabilities that deep learning provides to data analysts. It will conclude with a discussion of the gaps that remain between our current technologies and the artificial intelligence of our imagination.
